Daito DCM Combined Drilling and Plasma Coping Robot Line
Integrated Drilling, Milling, Tapping, Marking and Robotic Plasma Cutting in One Automated Line
The Daito DCM integrates three-spindle CNC drilling, milling, tapping and layout marking with eight-axis robotic plasma cutting in one enclosed machine. It processes structural steel sections up to 1,025 × 500 mm on the DCM1000 and 1,325 × 500 mm on the DCM1300, combining machining, coping, notching and cut-to-length operations. Automated material handling can be configured to suit section lengths, factory layout and production requirements.
Key features
Drilling and Coping in One Machine
Three-spindle CNC drilling and robotic plasma cutting run inside one enclosed machine from the same production program. Drilling, milling, tapping, coping and marking are completed in one material flow, without transfers between separate drill, saw and coping stations.
Three Independent Drill Spindles
Independent top, left and right direct-drive spindles position separately around the section. Each spindle operates independently, allowing drilling, milling and tapping on three sides without turning the material or moving it to another machine.
Automatic Tool Changing
Each spindle has its own automatic tool changer, with eight positions above and seven on each side. The machine changes drill sizes automatically and can select optional tools for milling, tapping and scribing.
Eight-Axis Plasma Robot
A six-axis robot mounted on a two-axis travelling base positions the Hypertherm XPR300 plasma torch around the section. It produces copes, notches, slots, holes, bevels and end cuts, including underside processing within the stated access range.
Laser Material Measurement
The laser measurement system checks the actual section position and dimensions before processing. Programmed holes, markings and cuts are adjusted to the material rather than relying only on nominal section data.
Layout and Part Marking
Part numbers and weld layout lines can be applied by scratching, scribing or plasma marking during the programmed cycle. Sections leave the machine identified and marked for fit-up, reducing separate manual measuring and marking.
Measured Pinch-Roller Feed
Four linked feed rollers move sections through the drilling and coping modules at up to 50 m/min. A measuring disc tracks material travel and detects slip, allowing the control to compensate for small movement or stop the cycle.

Why fabricators choose Daito
- Made in Japan. Daito-Seiki designs and builds its machines in Japan, and it shows in the machining, the fit and the electrical work.
- Reliability. Daito machines are built for continuous production, with long periods between faults and less unplanned downtime over the life of the machine.
- Straightforward to run. Operators are productive in days, not weeks. The control is simple and does what the job needs.
- Built around the operator. Design decisions are made for the person running the machine, not for the brochure.
