Daito Obi500 CNC Plasma Coping Robot
Six-axis plasma coping for structural sections up to 500 x 250 mm
The Daito Obi500 is a compact CNC plasma coping cell for beams, channels, angles, flat bar and hollow sections. A six-axis robot cuts copes, notches, slots, holes, bevels and end profiles, while laser sensing and roller measurement check the material before cutting.
Programs are generated from CAD or DSTV data through Daito DIS II, with no manual robot teaching. The enclosed cell suits fabricators automating small-section processing within a compact footprint.
Key features
Six-Axis Plasma Coping Robot
An articulated six-axis robot carries the plasma torch around the section to cope, notch, bevel and cut end profiles in three dimensions. Profiles are cut to the program on the line rather than marked out and ground by hand.
Single-Pass Cut on Angle and Channel
Cutting control follows the change in thickness through a corner, so angle and channel are profiled in one continuous pass. This gives a step-free edge, shorter cycle time and longer consumable life.
Laser Material Sensing
A laser sensor measures the position and actual dimensions of the section before cutting, and the program is corrected to suit. Twisted angle and out-of-square channel are cut to the material rather than to nominal dimensions.
Width and Height Checked on Infeed
Guide rollers and yoke rollers clamp the section on entry and measure its width and height. The size is checked against the program before cutting, stopping an incorrect section from being processed.
Servo Carriage Feed with Gripper Sensing
A servo carriage feeds and positions the bar at up to 40 m/min, with 2000 kg indexable. A gripper sensor detects off-centre gripping and stops a mis-fed length from being processed, and the carriage can be supplied on either side of the conveyor.
Programmed from CAD, No Robot Teaching
DIS II converts CAD or DSTV data to machining data, nests parts along the bar and shows a colour-coded 3D preview of each cut before it runs. No robot teaching or re-entry of drawings at the machine is required.
Torch Shock Sensor
A shock sensor on the torch stops the cycle on contact with the material to prevent torch damage.
Enclosed Cell
The robot works inside a fully enclosed cell 2400 mm wide, with sparks, dust and fume contained and the control panel mounted separately to keep the footprint small.

Why fabricators choose Daito
- Made in Japan. Daito-Seiki designs and builds its machines in Japan, and it shows in the machining, the fit and the electrical work.
- Reliability. Daito machines are built for continuous production, with long periods between faults and less unplanned downtime over the life of the machine.
- Straightforward to run. Operators are productive in days, not weeks. The control is simple and does what the job needs.
- Built around the operator. Design decisions are made for the person running the machine, not for the brochure.

Capacity for a specific section is confirmed with Daito at quotation. Dust collector and ductwork are not included and are supplied to suit the installation. A pit of 300 mm or more is recommended for the scrap cart option. DIS II programming software is required and one licence is supplied with the machine. A transformer to suit Australian three-phase supply is supplied with the machine.
