The Cosen C-300NC, C-400NC and C-460NC are fully automatic horizontal bandsaws on a cast iron hinge pivot rather than columns, with hydraulic shuttle-vice feed under Cosen's Smart NC-100 control. Three capacities cover 300, 400 and 460 mm round and up to 460 x 460 mm rectangular, for straight cut-off only.
They suit machine shops, steel merchants and general fabricators cutting bar, tube and section to length from a job list, where a compact footprint and a lower price than a dual-column saw are the priorities. Mitre work belongs on the C-510MNC and C-650MNC or the SH-LDM machines.
Key features
Cast iron hinge pivot
The saw frame pivots on a precision-bored cast iron hinge and is back-tilted so the blade enters the material at an angle rather than square on. Blade stress is lower than on a square-entry frame, and the machine occupies less floor than a column saw of the same capacity.
Smart NC-100 control
The SNC-100 control stores up to 100 jobs by cut length and quantity and compensates for kerf loss after the data is entered, so the number of index strokes is worked out by the control rather than the operator. The machine, blade motor and hydraulics shut down when the job count is reached or the bar runs out.
Bearing and carbide blade guides
Bearing guides align the blade before it enters the carbide guide, and two inserts on a central axis support the blade from above. The blade is held square under full feed pressure, and coolant is passed through the carbide guide to the blade and workpiece.
Hydraulic blade tension
Blade tension is set and held hydraulically and monitored for breakage, and the blade is relaxed slightly when the machine is switched off. Tension is correct on every start without a manual check, and blade life is extended between shifts.
Full stroke vices
Vice clamping and release for any material size is controlled from the panel without manually repositioning the vice jaw. Changeover between sizes on a mixed cut list takes no operator time at the vice. Standard on the C-400NC and C-460NC, optional on the C-300NC.
Hydraulic top clamps
Top clamps are hydraulically powered and selected from the HMI with the single or bundle cut switch. Bundles of bar or tube are held from above as well as the side, so multiple pieces are cut in one stroke without movement in the pack. Optional.
Hydraulic chip conveyor
A shaftless screw conveyor driven from the hydraulic system carries chips out of the machine base. Without an electric drive motor the conveyor does not burn out when material falls into it and binds. Optional.
Roller table
A 2 m roller table on the infeed side keeps long bar level with the machine bed, with other lengths available to order. Long stock feeds through the shuttle vice without sagging and the bundle stays square to the blade. Optional.
